10 Best Countries for Black Men to Retire Abroad

Are you ready to leave the Matrix USA for good and retire abroad? Thinking about a chance of pace and lifestyle?

In this article, you will learn my top 10 best places to retire abroad for black men. All of these destinations are great places to escape the rat race and live a life of sunshine, great food and beautiful women.

Today, the process of retiring can be quite expensive due to factors such increase in the cost of not only insurance but also healthcare. People who are currently working may dread retiring for the fear that after retirement they would not be able to support themselves as well as they did while still working.

All of the countries on this list are cheaper than the United States and currently have many US expats living there. They also have nice beaches (with the exception of Canada) so you can relax in a nice climate if you spent most of your working days in an office.

Country Rating Index

In order to give you more information on each country, I have created a 1 to 5 rating system (1 being the worst and 5 being the best). I have considered the following traits of a good country:

  • Happiness Factor
  • Cost of Living
  • Safety
  • Women
  • Food
  • Distance in miles from the USA (for US readers who want to visit family)

However, here is a list of countries which may serve as perfect locations for retirement:

1. Panama

Panama Ratings

  • Happiness Factor: 5
  • Cost of Living: 4
  • Safety: 4
  • Women: 4

Sunshine, beautiful Panamanian women, great food and a low cost of living? Say What?

Panama ranks as #1 on our retirement list because it offers so many benefits to black men.

The government of Panama is gladly welcoming retirees from the USA especially. First and foremost, getting to Panama is quite easy. Americans do not require a visa to enter Panama. All you need is a passport.

Secondly, Panama offers a generous retirement program to foreigners who can prove they earn at least $1,000 per month. The cost of living in Panama is so low that you can live a laid back lifestyle for 1/2 the cost of retiring in America.

Also, if a person buys any property in this country, the limit of the monthly pension gets even lower.

Other bonuses which come with the visa include: being given a discount on the medical expenses, entertainment, food and services such as electricity is charged very cheaply, proving to be less costly as compared to living in the United States.

3. Brazil

Brazil Ratings

  • Happiness Factor: 5
  • Cost of Living: 4
  • Safety: 3
  • Women: 5
  • Food: 5
  • Distance to USA: 3

Brazil Highlights

  • The black mecca of South America
  • World class nightlife
  • Beautiful warm year round women
  • Most beautiful women in the Americas
  • Great food and cuisine
  • Lower cost of living
  • Excellent vibe

Brazil comes in at 3rd on the list because many brothas like myself fell in love with this beautiful country. You’ll find the best looking women in the Americas living in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro offers world class nightlife and entertainment at a fraction of the cost compared to cities like Los Angeles and New York.

Many black men retire in Brazil and end up getting married to their dream girl. I would have ranked it #1 if it weren’t for the long flight distance and poverty in the areas outside of the metro city.

Brazil is such a large country that it will take years to explore it all. If you’re looking for amazing weather and beautiful women in a vibrant playground for men, then Brazil is for you.

Here, there is the warm climate and absolutely low cost of living. Also, the country has a double taxation agreement with some other countries and so if a person has been covered by either of the agreements, he cannot be charged on their income twice.

4. Colombia

Colombia Ratings

  • Happiness Factor: 4
  • Cost of Living: 5
  • Safety: 3
  • Women: 5
  • Food: 5
  • Distance to USA: 3

Colombia Highlights

  • Super low cost of living
  • A hidden gem off the beaten tourist path
  • Beautiful, down to earth women
  • Warm year round weather
  • Vibrant nightlife
  • Excellent beaches on the Caribbean coast

Colombia comes in ranked #4 behind Brazil because this country is truly a hidden gem. The Caribbean coast has some of the best beaches in the world and a vibrant nightlife that hasn’t been destroyed by excessive tourism.

The cost of living in places like Medellin, Cartagena, and Cali is so cheap that you’ll be saving money by moving here from the USA/UK.

Looking for marriage? Colombian women love black men and you won’t be single for long. Colombianas are passionate so watch out brothas!

In this country, most of the goods cost half what they do in the United States and Canada, so you can already tell the cost of living is low since food is a basic commodity. Furthermore, a person can take a cab in the city of Cartagena to anywhere else and it can never cost more than three dollars. This city is definitely becoming more popular for retirees.

The Gambia Highlights

The Gambia comes in at #6 because you can retire in one of the cheapest countries in Africa. The cost of living is 1/10 of what it costs in America. Everything from food to apartments is extremely cheap. The locals are friendly and the women are hard working and loyal.

Many West African men settle down in the Gambia to look for a wife. Did I mention the official language is English? English is widely spoken so no language barrier here. Safety can be an issue, but you will have zero problems if you respect the culture and stay drug & alcohol free.

Many Americans are retiring in the Gambia with their wife and living the relaxed beach lifestyle.

7. Thailand

Thailand Ratings

  • Happiness Factor: 5
  • Cost of Living: 5
  • Safety: 5
  • Women: 3
  • Food: 5
  • Distance to USA: 1

Thailand Highlights

  • World class nightlife
  • Slow, relaxed lifestyle
  • Wonderful food
  • Warm year round weather
  • Extremely safe
  • Great dental and medical care
  • A beautiful tropical paradise

Thailand, aka the land of smiles, is a world class retirement destination for men of all ages. Great weather, healthy food, extreme safety and beautiful women attract men from all over the world each year.

Thailand is an amazing place to visit, but we ranked it lower on the list due to several reasons. Firstly, the Thailand visa situation can be a nightmare unless you have $15,000 for the Elite visa. Secondly, foreigners cannot own property in their names under the Kingdom of Thailand. That means your wife’s name will be on any property you own.

This country is known for the beautiful beaches and ruins, the clear waters and of course, Thai cuisine. In Thailand, the cost of living is low and the health care is also affordable as compared to other countries. The town of Krabi is probably the best place to retire since not only is the cost of living low but the crime rate as well.

8. Philippines

The Philippines Ratings

  • Happiness Factor: 3
  • Cost of Living: 4

  • Women: 3
  • Food: 3
  • Distance to USA: 1

The Philippines Highlights

  • Easiest place in the world to hook up

The Philippines is known for many things such as its beautiful islands, friendly locals and young filipino women. It’s known for being one of the easiest countries in the world to get laid.

Thousands of American men retire in the Philippines each year due to their relaxed visa system. You can extend your visa for up to 3 years without leaving the country. This unique feature makes the Philippines a popular spot for black men.

The Philippines is known for fresh seafood which comes at very low price and the beautiful beaches. The cost of living is quite low. It is possible to make due in this country with as little as $1,000 dollars per month.

9. Ghana

Ghana Ratings

  • Happiness Factor: 3
  • Cost of Living: 4
  • Safety: 2
  • Women: 5
  • Food: 4
  • Distance to USA: 1

Ghana highlights

  • A booming economy
  • Great beaches
  • Economic hub of West Africa
  • Beautiful, loyal women

Ghana is becoming one of the most influential countries in Africa and its economy is set to boom. Although the majority of tourists are on vacation, over 3,000 African americans have moved to Ghana and called it home.

It offers a warm year round climate in West Africa where you can experience life in the motherland with more modern amenities than the Gambia.

Ghana does have its safety issues, which is why we ranked it much lower on the list. The women of Ghana are beautiful and would make great wives and girlfriends.

The cost of living in this country is relatively low throughout the year. The country also borders the Atlantic Ocean, a place people have access to and can build houses along the coastline and have that beautiful beach view.

10. Canada

Scanidave Spa in Vancouver

  • Happiness Factor: 3
  • Cost of Living: 3
  • Safety: 5
  • Women: 3
  • Food: 3
  • Distance to USA: 5

Canada highlights

  • 1st world economy
  • Close to the USA
  • Very Safe

Canada made the list at #10 because it is a decent option for black men who want to retire outside the Matrix USA. It’s close enough to visit family while giving you all the perks of a 1st world country. The cold winters and lack of black people forced us to rank it last on the list.

The health care is quite affordable as compared to the United States. The city of Quebec is also known for its “quality of life” in that the cost of living there is affordable.

If I had a choice between USA and Canada, then I’d choose Canada. If you want more information on Canada, then read our article on how to move to Canada.

  1. I’m currently in the Philippines on Bacation and can honestly say if you aren’t a white man then the women look right passed you to be honest. They believe the lighter the skin the better you are. You rarely find women who are into black men here and I’m currently in Boracay.

  2. This is a great list, but I would add two points/questions:

    – Where does Indonesia fit into this list?
    – There’s a need to differentiate between women for quality partnerships versus for paid “holiday girlfriends” (aka, gold-diggers)

  3. For me the best country to retire to is Thailand, due to the fact that the cost of living in Thailand is quite low, various Thai cities can accommodate wide array of budgets including a very small one. Your money will likely go much further in Thailand than it will back home with accommodation and food being especially cheap. Moreover, Thai people are extremely friendly, hospitable and welcoming, they enjoy socializing with you and welcome you into their community.

  4. Great list. i have been to several countries on the list. i plan to learn Spanish in Spain and then buy some property there as well in South America(Colombia, Chile Brazil or Ecuador).

  5. A little harsh, Jalia. I’ve been to the Philippines several times and have met some wonderful, quite respectable women. The men are no panacea.

    Nice list, Tarik. Peace.

  6. I’m a filipino woman living in Canada and I’m embarrassed by the easy-to-lay women we have in philippines. They’ll literally sleep with anyone, even if it isn’t for money. They’re disgusting and a disgrace to all of philippines and should be wearing paper bags over their head. THEY ARE WALKING STD’S! BEWARE 🙂

    • It’s best for dark skinned black males to go to eastern European countries for white women. because women of color put white men before dark skin black American men

  7. nobody is talking about how you are going to make a living in any of these countries. No one should just pack up and leave for another country without knowing where the money is going to come from.

  8. Great list, but I think Mexico and Ecuador should have been included on the list. There are over 1 million people of African descent living in Mexico. The cost of living, health care and housing are low compared to the US. It has wonderful beaches and places like Puerto Vallarta have many of the 1st world amenities.

Ecuador has many of the positives that Mexico has, and it maybe safer in general compared to Mexico.

  9. This is a great list except I would add the country of Belize. This is because Belize being bordered next to Mexico it’s closer to the US to visit family. Also, English is the official since Belize was once a British colony. And finally Belize has a tropical climate with beautiful women and beaches!!!

      • Belize sucks! I have been trapped there for the last 3 years, and lived all over … Corozal, San Ignacio, Belmo … the women are not near the median looks of Colombia or Brazil. EVERYBODY has their hand out, either begging or even worse, scamming. One of the few things I liked is I’ve never experienced a culture where women would so easily pose naked for photos. They don’t seem to give half a damn about nudity. What also sucks is the govt. doubled the price of visa extensions from 50usd per month to 100usd per month. If you’re looking for pro action, have a cabbie take you to a pro bar. They’ll have some hotties, but they’re usually Honduran and non-English speaking. If you go island hopping, keep in mind that Ambergris Caye leans more to the white traveler, while Caye Caulker is more Black leaning. Also Belize City is NOT as bad as you’re led to believe. It’s bad, but not instant death bad. Been all over BC and no issues, but don’t push your luck.

  10. I would move Thailand to #5..The day and night life is 24 hours euphoria specially for new comers..Hey brother, you remember your first time landing in BKK?

    • It was the best month of my life. You’re 100% right. Thailand is nonstop euphoria, but I don’t know if I could retire there. The visa situation is rough plus you cannot own property in your own name. If your marriage goes south, then you could lose it all. Right now, it’s #1 or #2 for overall tourism. Hopefully they give foreigners more ownership rights in the future.

    • I lived in Thailand for a year and noticed some racism towards blacks. They tend to look down on people with darker skin which is why they are perplexed by white people tanning and dating women with darker skin.
