1. Research the nearest public market of the city
You will learn more about the culture by eating the local foods and dishes. Not only is it cheaper, but you can shop with local farmers & street vendors without spending a fortune on fast food.
If you’re health conscious, you’ll be able to find alternative food options if you’re a vegan/vegetarian.
2. Find a local Gym
Going to the gym is a great way to start your day. You’ll build muscle, lose weight, improve your mood and look great for the opposite sex.
3. Cook your own meals
It’s a good idea to cook your own meals to stay healthy and save money in the long run. You’ll know exactly what’s in your food and avoid eating foods that either contain unhealthy ingredients or nasty chemicals.
4. Avoid Binge Drinking
Alcohol is dangerous when consumed in excess. Too much drinking in a new country can lead to nasty consequences like theft, robbery, fights or unwanted imprisonment.
Limiting yourself to a few drinks max will prevent any unfortunate problems.
5. Stay away from drugs
Most foreign countries have long jail sentences for foreigners who get caught with drugs. Getting caught with drugs will put you in an expensive situation if you have to pay police bribes (especially in less developed countries). Avoid drugs at all costs.
6. Walk at least 1 mile daily
You’ll see a lot more of the city and remember good restaurants, clubs and places to visit in the future. It’s also a good way to maintain your weight and stay fit for cheap.
7. Drink bottled water (or boil your tap water)
Buying your own water is the safest way to stay hydrated without drinking the local water. Sometimes, you can get sick from the local water because your immune system is unfamiliar to the taste.
Another option is to boil your tap water then place it in the refrigerator. Heat kills any germs and the refrigerator keeps it cool for later use. Add tea or lemon for extra flavor.
8. Get Plenty of Rest
Going out partying every night will take a tool on your health. Don’t be afraid to stay in on certain nights and get plenty of sleep.
Too much partying will burn you out quickly. Always do everything in moderation.
