One can never truly understand a certain culture beforetrying their traditional cuisine. Travelling to exotic destinations can be a challenge, especially in terms of food and you may find some of the dishes strange.

1. Balut

Paksiw Lechon

This one smells like home and Christmas. It’s a super popular Filipino dessert made with fresh young coconut meat mixed with condensed milk and baked in the oven. Tip: eat it hot with a side of vanilla ice cream!



The delicious calorie bomb, Halo Halo is another famous dessert. It’s a mix of everything you’ll love but regret in the morning – milk, kidney beans, kaong (sugar palm fruit), jackfruit, tapioca, sweet potato, coconut gel, yam, guava paste and ice cream.
