On a Spring morning in Atlanta, Georgia, people saw an ambulance rush a person from their high rise penthouse the nearest hospital because of chest pains. It didn’t take long before Twitter went into a frenzy. Many at first saw the news as a rumor, pretty soon a few people that were considered friends came out and confirmed the speculated reports that Kevin Samuels, the YouTuber, the image consultant, the “High Value Man”, had surely passed away on May 5, 2022. This caused hundreds of thousands of people around the world to have a mixture of emotions. While some were grieving the passing of a great man, others actually celebrated and jeered at the passing of Mr. Samuels. What was ever more bizarre is that people went as far as to justify their degenerative behavior by saying that it was okay due to the man behind the phrases “You’re average at best” and “Buy a dog and die alone”, hurting their feelings.
Unfortunately, many black women were the ones that were elated because of the news. This is mainly because Mr. Samuel’s content and the way he explained it was rather too harsh for their liking. Many accuse him of hating black women and for encouraged “misogyny”, “fat-shamming”, and “pro right-winged and supported white supremacy”. Many have even gone to extremes such as trying to accuse him being gay and tried get petitions to get him banned from the YouTube platform. Luckily, the gay rumored were debunked (not that there is anything wrong with that lifestyle, but it’s morally wrong to falsely accuse someone), and there was a counter petition post on the same site, calling to keep him on the YouTube platform.
Now for those that don’t who this brother is, I need to give you context as to who this individual was. Kevin Roshon Samuels was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His age and year of birth is up in the air, and it is speculated that his birthday is March 13th. As for his childhood, he was an only child that raised by his mother, his uncle, his grandfather, and his aunties in Oklahoma. Mr. Samuels claims he is a graduate of University of Oklahoma with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. fraternity. After working in the corporate world for over a decade, he went on to try to make a name for himself in the fashion industry, eventually, he started doing YouTube videos on men’s fashion around 2012 or 2013. Between 2012-2018 he mostly made videos on fragrances, fashion and dating advice. Occasionally, he would make videos, giving advice to black men on how to level up. Because he had more success from the live streams and giving men (especially black men) advice from dating to how to rise up the corporate ladder, between 2018-2019, we saw him focusing that we saw less of him trying to compete with the Alpha M’s of YouTube and more on talking to men. Ironically, he would do livestreams and talk to men that called in the same unfiltered, ruthless, unapologetic way he would later talk to his female audience and didn’t get the reputation he now has. In a video he made, he told the male caller that he is short, fat and broke, but wants to get have success with women without putting in any kind of effort to raise their attraction to him.
While doing his videos for men, some women would call in and ask for his advice, and he would give it to them the way we all know of him to give it out. I’m sure that those who have seen his videos know exactly what I am talking about. LOL.
